We leave for Florida tomorrow. We have quite the adventure planned - we will see good friends-The Blackwell's, Mickey Mouse & the gang, experience the Marathon weekend with the kids' races and our marathon, share breakfast with some Disney characters, visit family, see palm trees and warm weather. Doesn't get any better than that!
We will finish packing today and attend our Team in Training/Leukemia & Lymphoma Society send off party for the marathon tonight. We will gather with 60+ teammates, coaches, mentors, patient heroes, etc. The coaches & mentors will provide us with details about our upcoming marathon experience, along with a few presentations on how our team did with the fundraising efforts and we'll hear from patient heroes. To say this has been an amazing journey thus far, doesn't quite cover it.
Don and I have met some of the most amazing people since we started this plan to raise some money for Leukemia research and go for a run. The patient heroes, random acts of kindness from fellow Team in Training coaches, runners, walkers, the support, prayers, fund raising, and encouragement from our family and friends has all touched our hearts in ways that will never be forgotten. Our inspiration continues to come from our patient heroes like Skip and Rhondi, and all of you who keep use going along. Rhondi is actually doing the marathon in Disney World, even though she is battling leukemia. That is inspiration.
We continue to say special prayers for those of you who have shared stories of family members whom have lost their battle to leukemia since we started this journey. May God give you peace, may you find comfort in prayer and find peace in your days. We will run on Sunday in honor of you and your family members - you have more courage than we could possibly imagine.
So, my friends, know that we head off into our journey to the land of palm trees, Mickey Mouse, loved ones, and fun for an amazing experience. Because of you, we go with our hearts filled with joy, blessings from God, and knowing you all have helped us in immeasurable ways to have this experience.
We'll keep you posted on how it all goes - look for an update sometime next week.
