Speaking of the gift of God's love....I've got to mention this movie, Fireproof. http://www.fireproofthemovie.com/. Don and I rented this last week and watched it at home, pausing the flick in several areas. It is about a fireman and his wife and the current state of their relationship. This movie spurred such great conversations, specifically about how it is a choice to be in love, a choice to love your spouse, a choice to have God in your marriage, a choice to see faith in your marriage, I could go on and on.
In summary - this is the first Christian based flick I have seen as an adult that depicts what can happen in a marriage if you lose sight of God and your spouse. It is a challenge to be married, but a challenge that can embrace and provide happiness, depth, security, joy, giggles, and deepened faith, if you so choose to keep your eye on God and what you value. Yes, that is a of a bit long blah-blah-blah about this movie - but we found it so powerful and encouraging. The directors, in the 'extras' section of the DVD, go on to talk about how marriage is under attack in the media, movies, etc. I think there is some serious truth to that. Really - ask yourself - when was the last time you saw something on mainstream TV that didn't destroy the idea of a faithful marriage, depict infidelity as the 'thing to do', or just not have any moral values or God representation in it? Yes, I feel that strongly about it. Really - there should be more God out there and less of the morally corrupt behavior that devours commitment, marriages, faith in mankind, faith in our spouses, actions that destroy communities, families, etc.
Okay, I'm done. Time to go do the dishes. See the movie - watch what happens. It's worth it.
