Mariners Game

Well, I survived the Mariners game with three kiddo's. I'll admit it - I'm proud of myself! I packed a bag as if we were going on a plane - various snacks, stickers, crayons, advil (for me), and other little toys. Why would I do this, you wonder? Well, it was Little League Weekend and we bought tickets before we knew Don would be in South Bend doing his ND reunion thing. Plus, we happen to know a few other families that were attending the game - good to know in the event that I really needed extra hands and help. Not to mention, it was just an experience we thought Matteo would enjoy with a few of his fellow teammates.

We got to the baseball field early enough to parade around the field, on the warm up track. Funniest thing: Seeing my kids "throw" themselves up against the wall/fence line as if they were catching a ball! Seriously, they could have done that for 5 hours.

We all had a great time - the kids all made posters for the game and they definitely displayed them, shook them all around and Matteo even managed to get on the jumbo screen with a fellow teammate while dancing. It was Matteo's idea to do the signs, as he learned about the idea of a "rally fries" poster from watching other Mariner games on TV. If a certain newscaster saw your sign and thought it was the coolest one of the day, you would get free 'rally fries'.
While the kids didn't win rally fries at the park, I did take them to get McDonald's version of rally fries after the game. Why? Just because they were so very well behaved I thought they deserved a little treat and they made those great poster signs.

This adventure, in some weird way, really makes Seattle feel more like home to me. I think, now that Don is back at work, it's all settling in that we are definitely here for awhile. It was so great seeing our kids waaay excited about going to a Mariners game. During the first inning, Anna declared she wanted to meet the Mariner Moose (which we did), and it all had a cool hometown baseball game feel to it. Cool stuff.

Don got home yesterday, had a great time at the reunion. It is good to have him home. The kids couldn't wait to share the stories of the weekend, especially the great blue cotton candy at the game.
Other fun stuff - it's Dominick's last week of preschool, he will have a fun family picnic on Friday. Matteo is out of school on June 17th - can't wait for summer and no schedule. Woo hoo!
