Ready for the fun

Today started out well - I showered before the kids woke up, managed to read the paper and have some coffee all before the little people in my world came downstairs. This is an amazing thing in my world - seriously.

Due to this extraordinary set of circumstances, I told the kids we would go to the Seattle Aquarium. I obviously have more energy when I have a few moments of peace before they are up and moving.

They were soooo excited at the idea of the fun. They were all set and went into the garage to get in the car. I walk into the garage to make sure the kids are set to go and this is what I find in the backseat:

Apparently Anna thought that brown monkey, old pink monkey, flower (new pink monkey), soft-ee, and tiger-ee all needed to come along for the fun.

And fun we had. We hit the aquarium - we have had a membership for a few years, but there is some cool stuff since they finished the remodel. I love the Window on Washington Waters - a floor to ceiling aquarium. We managed to see a diver in that large tank who gave kids high-fives on the glass wall, we saw the large octopus, Buster, in action during a feeding, and even saw the sea otters nibble on shrimp while floating around on their backs.

From there we walked over to Pier 59 for a ride on the waterfront carousel, had lunch at the Alaskan Sourdough Bakery for some yummy grilled cheese for the boys, pbj for Anna, and a clam chowder sourdough bread bowl for me. In a word, yum.

After lunch out - which is a big treat for them - we went to see Donna at her barbershop in Queen Anne for some back-to-school haircuts. From there we wandered over to see the Seattle Art Museum Olympic Sculpture Park. What a cool place - huge art installations, right on the waterfront.

The view of the sound and a ferry boat - beautiful.

It was a jam-packed fun day. While I didn't get stuff done at home, it didn't matter. We were all having such a great time in the city. It was all about the fun. A good day indeed.
