The movers showed up yesterday to pack our house. They are professional, kind, scary efficient, funny with the kids and doing a great job.
There's no going back, the boxes are stacked everywhere. The house feels wierd. It has felt weird since we put it on the market and it stopped being our home in my mind. Feels like a place of business.
We're heading to a hotel tonight and I'm relieved about that. The kids look 'off' in this land of box towers. I feel off here, ready to be gone. I have officially detached myself from it, I think.
I have to credit a friend for giving me a great idea. She moved to Issaquah last year and shared the idea of taking a video tape of our house, toured by the kids, talking about things in our home, things they like and what we do in each room, favorite memories, etc. We did that earlier this week and it was just plain fun and I'm sure will be great for memories.
I'm not sleeping much right now. Up late doing stuff, waking up early because of things to do roaming around in my head. I know it will feel better tomorrow, as the to-do's will be done here, and the house will be fully loaded into the moving truck.
I've decided it's really hard to move and say goodbye to people we love in an area we love and a life we have built with our hearts, our faith, and amazingly wonderful people.
I also know that it's exciting and wonderful that we are on this family adventure to Minnesota. It truly is such a blessing, an amazing gift that Don has this job, this company that is relocating our family during these crazy economic times. And, we get to be closer to family.
We will officially depart the area sometime Thursday, after we have had our fun with Dominick and his requested birthday fun. Dominick has opted for our family to go to the Family Fun Center to celebrate all his coolness at 7 years of age :)
We will drive out on Thursday, as somehow driving feels less sad than flying to Minnesota. It's another roadtrip, baby! The stuff is packed, the entertainment (some new, some old) is already in the car. We plan to hit the Badlands and Mt. Rushmore on our way. Who knows what other random sights we'll find along the way.
Life is changing. We're moving. It's all one big adventure. Might as well enjoy the sights along the way!
See you all on the other side of the move. Minnesota here we come!
