39, but who is counting?

So, I had a birthday a few days ago - August 25th. I'm officially 39 years old. We celebrated the 'event' in little ways that meant a lot to me. We spent the day before hiking around Mt. Rainier, wandering the trails with the kids, driving to different spots, all the while I got to take pictures and enjoy the scenery. My actual birthday was a true gem for me - the morning started off with a parade from the kids with homemade cards and the beautiful singing that they love to do with the 'happy birthday' tune. It took every ounce of self control to not jump up and grab the video camera. Instead, I sat there and took in the delight on their faces and the simple joy I felt watching them walk around the kitchen. The highlight of the day - Don telling me that afternoon that we had dinner plans that evening - he had arranged babysitting! What a great way to celebrate - surrounded by the kids & Don, laughing, enjoying the lovely Pacific Northwest compliments of Mt. Rainier. Couldn't have been better. Thanks to all my family and friends that added to the celebration with calls, notes, emails, etc - I appreciate your thoughts and well wishes for the upcoming year.
