Fall Fun - Apple Picking

Fall is my favorite time of year. I love the changing leaves, the crisp air, and the fun that comes along with it. For the past three years, we have gone apple picking at a place called Rosabella's. Given the weird weather in August/September, the jonagold apples weren't ready for picking until last week. Last Wednesday, I picked the kids up from school and off we went to Bow, WA - about an hour and a half from Issaquah. We were the only family there on what turned out to be a picturesque fall day. Crisp air, pumpkins, apples, fall foliage, corn on the cob - ahhh - it was a beautiful field trip with the kids :) Don couldn't escape from work - so we had the apple fun this year. Rosa Bella, the apple orchard owner, asked me if each kiddo should have a bag for apple picking. I said sure - that would make it more fun for them. Well, ten minutes into apple picking and I had to say 'whoa' - my little tribe is quite efficient in picking apples! We ended up bringing home 38 lbs of apples!! After picking apples, we had some of their yummy, homemade apple cider donuts. Rosa Bella hung out with us while we had donuts and chatted a bit. It was a wonderful afternoon. Needless to say, we have shared apples with several neighbors and are going to have apple crisp for dessert tonight!

I'm bummed that I didn't think to bring some apples back to Orlando with us :( I love apple crisp. But I did get the crab and salmon ordered :)
