We have spent the last couple of days doing Family Fun after dinner. This is a new thing in our household. Each kiddo has their night to pick dinner and help cook and now they get to select an activity for Family Fun. So far this has included many rounds of hide-n-seek, along with various board games. The kids LOVE this idea. A nice benefit of this is that they are all too quick to get showered/bathed and in pj's so the family fun can begin! It has been a wonderful way to end the evening - playing with the kids before we snuggle them into bed with stories and prayers.
The fun and laughter with the kids has been a wonderful gift after such a hard weekend. I'm glad I went back to Chicago to say good bye to Great Aunt Mary. It was a hard weekend for me. She was an amazing person and the last family member of that generation in our family. The support, honor, faith and love that surrounded the celebration of her life and family was truly a heartwarming experience.
Kindergarten News: Dominick is officially registered for kindergarten. He was all too excited to see me complete the paperwork. As for me, it was a little sad to realize that Dominick will go off into the land of big-kid school next year. He can't wait to get a big kid backpack and hit Challenger in the fall. As for me, I want to keep him home as long as I can. How did he become a big kid, where was I when that happened?!
Don is out tonight at a retirement party and I have had a chance to get caught up on paperwork, email, life stuff, etc. Speaking of life stuff, there is no news on the job situation. For now, things are still in the land of unpaid leave a.k.a. vacation. I have a feeling the longer this goes on, the more isolating and odd it will all feel. Don is occupying his time with productive stuff and fun stuff, which is good to see. It's nice to see him enjoy the gift of free time.
That's all for now, I'm tired and going to bed. Ciao, friends.
