Matteo is home sick for the 3rd day in a row.
Which means I am home for the 3rd day in a row. Sometimes a good thing, sometimes not so much.
The laundry is done, so is most of the packing for our adventure this weekend to Roche Harbor. I have cooking to do, as we are staying in a little cottage and I plan to bring some italian eats, red wine, garlic bread, among other nibbles for our kids.
I'm listening to Matteo read stories to Dominick and Anna. They are all snuggled in Anna's bed, as I'm washing the boys sheets at the moment. Cuteness.
We recently got all three kids set-up with night stands and reading lamps. So fun and cute - how excited they are to be reading with each other in their own space.
Spent 45 minutes talking to This Guy this morning. He's just good for my soul. We covered life, Don's job search, family ties, the next time we'll gather for family fun, kid stories, faith stuff, it was all good. I love my brother.
Last night I spent the evening with two my favorite people, Camille and LeAnne. We shared a nice cold glass of Mac & Jack's, kid stories, school stories, babble, and lots of laughter. I've known these women since Matteo was 3 mths old. It was a casual, last minute gathering, but I soooo needed it. Fun, fun, fun. Thank you, friends.
Happiness. Everywhere I turn (alright, like 4 or 5 places), I'm reading or listening to people talk about the pursuit of happiness in their lives. Whether it's the blog of a neighbor and friend, this cool blog that I started reading a month ago, a conversation with LeAnne, a magazine article at the gym, or a business email Don sent me, it's everywhere. Seems the universe is sending me a message to define my happiness and go with it, whatever it may be. As a result, reflecting, thinking, journaling, laughing at myself a bit, and pensiveness have recently all found a way into my life. And, decluttering. Not sure why, but it's here, I'm cleaning out my house and maybe my head a little bit.
I have a feeling my head and maybe some of my posts are going to drift towards using my brain more, finding happiness in various (maybe new) roles in my life, and, most importantly, dusting off the parts of my brain and creativity that have been asleep while we have had tiny tots. They aren't so tiny anymore.
That's all for now. Stay tuned for what may or may not be a productive time in my life.
P.S. The kids stopped reading about 10 minutes ago. They have been whispering and scurrying about the house since then. Matteo just posted this sign on the inside of our office door and closed it. I wonder what is going on out there.
This, right here, evidence of their collaborative planning, preparing, doing something, anything, all by themselves is one of the things I love most about being at home. It's kinda cool, in my book, to see them do their thing.
Time to investigate....I overheard a whisper about some 'secret hideout'.
